Personal Injury and Wrongful Death
Insurance carriers cover motorists in the event of personal injury or wrongful death. This is particularly true in the case of a commercial vehicle. You can seek both special damages and general damages. Special damages cover medical bills, lost wages, and other quantifiable expenses. General damages are based on intangible losses such as undue mental anguish, pain and suffering, and loss of consortium. Both are compensatory damages, meaning you are entitled to compensation.
Negotiating with Insurance Companies
However, negotiating with insurance companies can be a harrowing ordeal, particularly when dealing with trauma or the loss of a loved one. You may be asked to provide documentation relating to fault and your credibility may be called into question. Professional legal counsel can ensure you receive all due compensation. Moreover, an experienced attorney can seek additional compensation for general damages that you might have difficulty receiving yourself.
