What to Do When You Are Involved in an Accident on the Freeway

When you are involved in an accident on a fast-moving freeway, it can be incredibly scary. The first thing to remember is to remain calm. You cannot act quickly if you are in a panic. Immediately try to get off of the freeway if you can. Pull to the side of the shoulder and call for emergency assistance. Let the 911 operator know where you are and any injuries that you or anyone else involved may have. After calling for help, wait in your car if you can and try not to move. You may have injuries that you can’t feel right away. Then do the following:

  • Get checked thoroughly by a medical professional for injuries.
  • Save all medical bills and damage estimates.
  • Do not talk to the insurance company or settle without talking to an attorney.
  • Schedule a free consultation with a local car accident attorney
