Pedestrian Accident Claims Life on North Central Expressway

Pedestrian AccidentNorth Central Expressway in Lewisville was shut down on the morning of May 11 after a man was struck by a car and killed in a pedestrian accident. According to an article on the website of WFAA-TV, the man had been drinking and was walking from a service station after buying more beer.

A Tragic Decision

The man, 22-year-old Jonah Wilson of Porter, Texas, told his friend that he wanted to cross the freeway, even though his friend tried to discourage him from doing so. Wilson was hit, according to the article, while trying to cross near the Midpark Road exit in Richardson. He was then struck by a second vehicle and dragged approximately 100 feet. The motorists who hit Wilson stopped and tried to provide assistance and no charges were expected to be filed.

How a Lawyer May be Able to Help

While this particular pedestrian accident was very likely not avoidable due to the victim’s decision to try and cross the freeway while intoxicated, there are several other similar accidents that are caused due to distracted drivers. Whether they are texting while driving, using a GPS system, putting on makeup or simply in a hurry, there are far too many instances where drivers are not paying attention to the road and a tragedy takes place as a result.

In many cases, drivers will attempt to blame the pedestrian for causing the accident, or look for other ways to deflect responsibility away from themselves. If you or someone you know has been injured or killed in a pedestrian accident, you will need to get in touch with an experienced attorney as soon as possible so that you have the best chance of obtaining a full and satisfactory monetary settlement.
