A Grand Prairie man was arrested on January 26 and charged with intoxication manslaughter after a fatal drunk driving accident in the Lewisville suburb of Oak Cliff. Lloyd Hwehwe, 25, was in the Lewisville County jail in lieu of $100,000 bail after having a blood alcohol content of .219 percent, a total that was almost three times the legal driving limit of .08 percent. A Tragic Result
According to an article in the Lewisville Morning News, Hwehwe was driving in the southbound lanes of Interstate 35E near Illinois Avenue at approximately 6 a.m. on January 26. He crashed into a stalled truck on the side of the highway, which flipped upon impact. The victim, 44-year-old Richard Vielma, was pinned and was later pronounced dead at an area hospital.
The article went on to report that Hwehwe said he had eight beers in the time leading up to the crash. He fell asleep in the back seat of the police vehicle as he was being transported to jail. He had been previously arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated in February.
