Denton Cyclist Killed by Train

Earlier this month, on June 13th, a cyclist was struck and killed by an early morning commuter train in Denton. The incident occurred just before noon, by the Lakeview Boulevard railroad crossing, just to the south of MedPark Station. According to the Denton police department, a southbound Denton County Transportation Authority train struck the adult male bicyclist, killing him instantly.

The Incident

The man was said to be riding with several other riders, though no one else was injured during the incident. Everyone riding with the victim immediately stopped their bicycles and attempted to render aid, but none were successful in their attempts. The police state the man died at the scene of the accident.

In total, there were 11 passengers on the commuter train. Thankfully, no one else was injured during the incident.

Jim Cline, DCTA President, offered his condolences to the individual’s family and friends, all of whom are in mourning following the tragedy.
