Hit and Run Victims

There is truly nothing more frightening than being in a car crash and having the other car flee the scene. This is particularly the case when you are one of the only vehicles on the road during the early morning. It is crucial that you take the steps necessary to protect yourself and your passengers if you are involved in a hit and run accident.

What to Do in a Hit and Run Accident

The first step is to remain calm and try to assess your injuries. If you can, call the emergency authorities and get to a safe location. If you are in the middle of the road, stay in your car and do not exit. You are much safer inside your vehicle unless it is a fire hazard. If you cannot call the authorities, instruct someone at the scene to call 9-1-1. Try to take pictures and gather as much information as possible about the person who hit you. After you have been thoroughly checked by medical professionals, call an experienced car accident attorney.
