5-Year Old Killed & Many Injured During Suspected DWI Crash in Arlington

Early Saturday morning, a 5-year old little girl and six others were injured when their car crashed into a telephone pole. The driver, Valencia Freeman, was speeding through Arlington while intoxicated. Authorities believe she was drunk when she lost control of the vehicle which then slammed into a wooden pole in the 5100 block of South Collins Street near Arlington Airport She has since been charged with intoxication manslaughter and three counts of intoxication assault causing serious bodily injury.

No Seat Belts, Multiple Injuries

The car had seven occupants, many of them children that were not wearing seatbelts. They were all taken to the hospital in varying conditions. Many injuries were severe, in particularly the children’s injuries. The crash left many residents in the area without power. Freeman was placed in jail Saturday night with bail set to $63,000. She did not have a valid driver’s license, car insurance, or inspection sticker. She also faces additional charges for not having the children secured in the car.
