Pedestrian Accident Claims Life of Corpus Christi Man

Pedestrian Accident Claims Life Corpus Christi ManA tragic pedestrian accident occurred on Jan. 21 in Corpus Christi when a 22-year-old man was struck and killed by a sport utility vehicle. The man, George Wilmot, was hit at about 11 p.m. and later pronounced dead at an area hospital. The Todd R. Durham Law Firm shares this story to highlight not only the need for taking precautions when crossing the street, but also obtaining legal representation if you or someone close to you is ever harmed in this type of accident.

Be Safe When Crossing the Street

Wilmot, according to an article on the website of a Corpus Christi television station, was listening to music and wearing dark clothing when attempting to cross the street. The driver of the SUV was an 18-year-old man who could not see Wilmot. The driver stopped and waited for emergency responders and was not cited by police for the pedestrian accident.

An officer quoted in the article had the following advice for pedestrians trying to cross the street – especially at night:

  • Wear reflective clothing.
  • Do not walk in the middle of a roadway.
  • Stay on the shoulder of a road whenever possible.

Even though the driver in this instance was not at fault, we’ve seen far too many examples of careless – or even reckless – driving that has led to a pedestrian accident. These accidents resulted in horrible injuries and even deaths. If you have been injured in this type of accident or you have lost a loved one, contact the Todd R.
